A Series of Workshops for Professionals

 

Divine Mercy Centre and Apostolate is dedicated to the care and nurture of all beings.  In that light, they are offering a series of workshops they see as important to enhance the well-being and skills of today’s care providers. 

 

 

October 10th, 2008: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Compassion Fatigue: This 1-day of professional development is for staff, whose work requires them to provide continuous, empathic support to others who are dealing with crisis or trauma, due to addiction, abuse, homelessness, suicide, grief or terminal illness. October 17th, 2008: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Safe Talk: This 1-day introduction to Suicide Intervention Skills Training, will give you the confidence to identify, & intervene with, those at risk of taking their lives, in an empathic & productive way for all concerned. October 24th, 2008: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Grief and Loss: This 1-day workshop will help you, as a service provider, to distinguish between Burn-out, Depression and Grief in your clients. November 7th, 2008: 9:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m., EQ Coaching: This 1-day workshop concentrates on explaining the seven core emotional competencies while working with a module called A.R.T.  Participants are asked to be Aware of or recognize their emotions,  to take Responsibility for such emotions and then to Take action. ABOUT YOUR FACILITATORS

 

Leslie Bond, a registered Master Trainer with Living Works suicide prevention programs, fluent in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), safeTALK and Suicide Awareness. She is an experienced group facilitator and counselor. Having changed directions in the past year, she is now the Principal of L.A.BOND Facilitation, and has designed and facilitated workshops to develop Peer Helpers for a specific population dealing with grief.

 

 

Terry Pynea registered Coaching Trainer (Train the Trainer) with Living Works suicide prevention programs, fluent in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), safeTALK, Suicide Awareness and ASIST Tune-ups. He is the Director of Health Promotion with DND in Ottawa and is an experienced counselor and facilitator. He delivers workshops in Stress Management, Healthy Eating, Smoking Cessation, Drug and Alcohol Education and Healthy Relationships.

 

 

Lynn Crosson, MSW, RSW, graduated from Carleton University School of Social Work in 1974 and has worked for 36 years with children and their families in Wisconsin and Ontario. Lynn has had 6 years of experience in the field of Child Welfare and has also worked for 30 years with the families of children with special needs. She is a certified specialist in Grief Recovery.

 

 

Rita Myres, MSW, RSW, is a graduate from Carleton University School of Social Work. She has experience creating and delivering programs for specific groups of care-givers, such as family members & teams of volunteers or professional care providers. In addition, Rita facilitates a caregiver support group, a parent education program, a Grief Recovery program and an Emotional Intelligence group for men.

 

 

Roy van der Mull, CAE, is an adult educator, business and EQ coach with 30 years in facilitation and training, financial management, business ownership and human resources. He created Complete Internal Expertise Model, a body-mind process to improve communication and collaborative thinking.  CIEM, together with EQ Coaching in the work place, has enabled his clients to discover the spiritual and natural laws and cycles of living an effective and fulfilled life.  He has trained and coached hundreds in business transformative processes.
